Change my heating and air filter! How often in Birmingham Al.? Why?

•  filter changing needs to be less often than changing underwear unless you are cave man-style-old
• there is usually only one filter location for your furnace, air conditioner, heat pump or package unit. It is located either in the side of your inside unit in the basement, in a filter grill in your hallway close to the thermostat, in the floor under a grill in your hallway or outside in a vertical rack if you have a package unit.
• since your filter catches particles of dust, lint and other airborne things, it will clog up and will reduce the amount of air that can travel across your evaporator coil or heat chamber. This reduces your hvac systems' ability to condition your home either with cool de-humidified air during the summer or warm air during the winter.
• the better the filter, the more particles it catches, the more often it needs to be changed.
• if you have animals that shed (or really furry humans)in your house, increase the frequency of changing.
• normal filters, normal conditions, normal people(not referring to mental capacity) should be changed every month. Yeah, that is right every 30 days reguardless------
• the bestest, most accuratest, easyest way to remember this is -------Every time you pay the electric bill, Change the dang filter!
